JCICS-Understanding Board Meeting Minutes
On December 10, 2010, PoundPup Legacy discovered that the board meeting minutes of the adoption service provider organization, Joint Council on International Children’s Services (JCICS), had become publicly available. They are dated from mid-2005 through summer 2009, and have been archived here: http://poundpuplegacy.org/node/46329 .
This is a treasure trove of data that requires time and reflection to read properly. When doing so, they will help you fully understand how the adoption industry has operated during these years where the number of scandals and children placed internationally soared. Though Roelie Post, MSc of the nonprofit organization Against Child Trafficking (http://www.againstchildtrafficking.org/ ) made some initial comments on Romania here http://www.romania-forexportonly.eu/2010/12/from-the-trenches-of-jcics/, we have yet to see a comprehensive breakdown of what these minutes mean. REFORM Talk will take up that challenge this week, starting with 2005, in an attempt to connect some dots for our readers. Please feel free to add more context and links to what we discuss!
