Bittersweet Justice: BFAS UPDATED

Occasionally there is justice for those negatively affected by the child welfare and adoption systems. Unfortunately, it is usually bittersweet and much too late. This will serve as REFORM Talk’s justice files.

It is not often that agencies are shut down. REFORM Talk applauds this investigation and subsequent action.

According to a Department of State alert, http://adoption.state.gov/news/ethiopia_alert.html , the MOWCYA (Ethiopia Ministry of Women’s Children and Youth Affairs) has revoked Better Future Adoption Service’s license to operate in Ethiopia.

The translation of the letter can be found here:

The child trafficking implications:

Currently, the outcome for the children and biological families is unclear. It is also unclear if the prospective parents will get their money back.
