How Could You? Hall of Shame-Jamie Whittington

This will be an archive of heinous actions by those involved in child welfare, foster care and adoption. We forewarn you that these are deeply disturbing stories that may involve sex abuse, murder, kidnapping and other horrendous actions.

From Wellington, Colorado, “an arrest warrant was issued for Whittington on charges of child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury, a class-three felony, as well as child abuse, a class-two misdemeanor” for 28-year-old Jamie Whittington, aunt and kinship caregiver to a 2-year-old boy and his 15-month old brother.

On March 10, “Sheriff’s deputies and emergency medical teams responded…to a call where a 2-year-old boy who hit his head and was not responsive.”  “It was discovered, after in-depth medical exams, that the 15-month-old brother of the injured boy also had previous fracture injuries.”

On April 21, “Whittington turned herself into the Larimer County Jail today and is being held on a $300,000 bond. ”

A third child was also being cared for in the home. Two of the children are in foster care and the 2-year-old is in the hospital in stable condition.
