Child, Disrupted Documentary September 17, 2011

Child, disrupted by Patrick Martin-Menard and Sandhya Dirks will be showing as part of the Columbia Journalism School Documentary Festival

Saturday, September 17th

Columbia Journalism School

2950 Broadway, at 116th Street, New York, NY

2:15 p.m.

Film description: “The movie investigates international adoption, and the phenomena of disruptions. We have found that parents are too often unprepared, older children often damaged, some adoption agencies unhelpful, and social services lacking for parents facing difficult adoptions. While some disruptions are necessary, there is not yet a proper system in place to handle them.

Child, disrupted follows a young man searching for answers about his own disruption, a young man who was sent back to Ethiopia by his adoptive parents and his journey to find his way back to something like home.”
