How Could You? Hall of Shame -Jose Gonzales
This will be an archive of heinous actions by those involved in child welfare, foster care and adoption. We forewarn you that these are deeply disturbing stories that may involve sex abuse, murder, kidnapping and other horrendous actions.
From Albuquerque, New Mexico, foster father Jose Gonzales, approximately 64 years of age (derived from New Mexico court filings),was convicted on October 18, 2011 of “kidnapping, raping” a 17-year-old girl in his care in 2007. There is only one news report that we can find on him. The information was released by CYFD on November 9, 2011. He faces more than 100 years in prison. He has yet to be sentenced. The video at the link says that the girl was in his home for awhile but it wasn’t until after she moved to another foster home that he kidnapped her and raped her. This report does not give Jose’s age (but court filings give his year of birth as 1947) or how long the girl was in his care.
Additionally, the CYFD spokesman “Knell couldn’t say how long Gonzales was a foster parent or how many kids he looked after and could have put in danger.
Knell also couldn’t say what kind of screening process Gonzales went through to become a foster parent, but he said it has become stricter since this incident.”
In the video interview, the reporter asks him if there could be other victims. He answers that he didn’t think so ONLY because no other allegations have been brought forth. 
Furthermore, he does not give contact information on where other possible victims could report allegations nor does the media story.
CYFD: Foster Parent Convicted Of Kidnapping, Raping Child

A search of New Mexico public online case lookup reveals that on September 23, 2007, two Class 3 felony counts of “CRIM SEXUAL CONTACT MINOR (PERSON IN AUTHORITY)” were filed against him. On October 1, 2007, one Class 1 felony count of “KIDNAP W/INTNT GBH/DEATH/SEXUAL OFFENSE ” ; two Class 2 felony counts of “CRIM SEXUAL CONTACT MINOR (PERSON IN AUTHORITY)”; and two Class 2 felony counts of “CRIMINAL SEXUAL PENETRATION (FORCE/COERCION) ” were filed against him. The jury trial ended on October 17, 2011.
On October 18, 2011 guilty verdicts were handed down on both Class 3 felonies, the Class 1 felony, both Class 2 felonies of Criminal sexual contact minor (person in authority) .The remaining three felonies had guilty verdicts as alternatives to the counts. It is currently unclear what those alternatives were. A sentencing memorandum was published on November 7, 2011-content unknown.

CYFD really twisted that story to cover themselves…she was still in his care at the time. She shouldn't have been, but CYFD didn't give her anywhere else to go. Poor girl would've been homeless if she'd left. They figured they'd just wait for her to age out of the system, cuz they didn't want to be bothered. TECHNICALLY he kidnapped her, because he wasn't her legal guardian at the time and he locked her in the room with the intent of raping her. Bottom line though, he's sick and twisted. May he rot in jail!!!!
Yes they did twist the story, she was in his care at the time. She did have somewhere else to go but the home was not cyfd approved so would not give permission to go there until after the rape happened. There she was loved and cared for.
