Seven US Adoption Agencies Vie for the Alloted Three Kyrgyzstan Adoption Agency Slots UPDATED

The peak placement year of Kyrgyzstan was FY2008 when the placements numbered 78 to the US. Kyrgyzstan closed in October 2008.

Now, ten agencies have applied to Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Social Protection. Seven, currently unidentified, are from the US. Two are from Spain and one is from the Netherlands.

““Deadline of documents’ receipt is not limited. It will be known in January 2012, which of claimed organizations will be accredited. No more than three firms can claim from one country,” the Spokesperson noted.

As 24.kg news agency reported earlier, accreditation is given for three years, then it is either prolonged, or not.

Recall, 216 little Kyrgyz citizens were given for international adoption from 2005 to 2008. Basically, they went to 8 countries. Most of them found new parents in the U.S., 30 percent in Switzerland, Sweden and Germany; two other guys are in South Africa.”

Update: We have mentioned that CWA was the first US agency to be approved. See here. Now 3 more agencies have been approved-one each in Italy, Spain and the Netherlands.

“There are four international organizations up for adoption in Kyrgyzstan, said the Head of Family and Children Issues Department at Social Development Ministry, Ekaterine Horoshman.

According to Horoshman, the department received 24 applications: 11 from USA, 6 – Spain, 3 – Italy, 1 – Finland, Sweden, Canada and Netherlands.

Recently we have accredited one organization from USA, Italy, Spain and Netherlands. Competition is too high and we pay much attention to ideal reputation and experience of the organizations. In total, we will license ten organizations – three from each country. Everything depends on a number of children in the database. There were 304 files in the beginning of this year,” Horoshman said. [Their math is a bit off and CWA hardly has an “ideal reputation.”]

In the period of 2005-2008, 216 Kyrgyz children were adopted through international adoption programs. They moved to eight countries: most of them moved to USA, 30%– Switzerland, Sweden and Germany; two kids are in South-African Republic.
