A Taiwanese American Adoptee’s Journey and Search for Identity

Follow the amazing adoptee search and unfolding reunion story of Marijane Chaling Nguyen/Huang Shiao-Ling in her interview at A Taiwanese American Adoptee’s Journey and Search for Identity
[Taiwanese American.org 1/8/12 by Ho Chie] and at her blog  Beyond Two Worlds.

A few interesting statistics in the interview:

Did you know that since 1999, there have been 1,884 total adoptions from Taiwan to the US? In comparison, there were 66,630 from China.”

“In the US, the states where most Taiwanese adoptions take place include: California, Texas, New York, Illinois, and Florida.”

REFORM Puzzle Pieces

Postplacement2

Adoptee identity and searching is an important aspect in postplacement that adoptive parents need to understand will likely be desired. It is normal. It is not the result of “anger”  or “ingratitude.” It has absolutely NOTHING to do with you as an adoptive parent. Emotionally support the search, help the search, pay for the search.
