How Could You? Hall of Shame-Jose Rostro UPDATED

This will be an archive of heinous actions by those involved in child welfare, foster care and adoption. We forewarn you that these are deeply disturbing stories that may involve sex abuse, murder, kidnapping and other horrendous actions.

From La Villa, Texas, three children aged 4, 5 and 6 were removed from their home in June 2011 due to maternal neglect. They were placed in the home of relatives. One of the people that lived in that home was gang leader Jose Rostro, 23. “”He would allow all the other guys to come over to the house and he would allow for [the children] to get molested,” Lt. Kafka said.”

“Three young siblings endured months of abuse at the hands of a La Villa street gang before making an outcry to their foster mother.

The La Villa Police Department has two of the three men accused in custody, but are looking for the third.

On Thursday evening, they arraigned the latest individual arrested in connection to the case, Jazmin Zervantes, 19.

Municipal Judge Ignacio Lopez charged Zervantes with, “”three counts for indecency with a child, four counts of continuous sexual abuse, two counts of aggravated sexual assault and a class one misdemeanor.”

La Villa Lt. Daniel Kafka said Zervantes is one of three Sureño gang members accused of sexually abusing the three small children, ages 4, 5 and 6.

A second gang member, Jonathan Garcia, 19, is already in jail.

But the gang’s leader, Jose Rostro, 23, is on the run.”

“Court and police documents stated the abuse went on until the children were finally removed from the home in early January 2012.

Those documents chronicle the explicit details of the abuse.

According to the documents, it happened not only at the temporary home the children shared with Rostro, but also at another home down the street.

But Rostro’s family denies those claims.

“They are innocent, they did nothing wrong,” Angelina Rangel said.

She raised Rostro and lives at the home where the abuse allegedly happened.

“It’s a lie because I would always be looking after them, the children,” she added.

Rangel added that she never noticed any signs of abuse going on inside her home.

However, Lt. Kafka said they would continue investigating the case and prosecuting all three men.

The children remain in foster care and are receiving counseling for the abuse at Estrella’s House.

Meanwhile, La Villa Police continue searching for Jose Rostro, who also goes by the nicknames “Shorty” and “El Toro.”

REFORM Puzzle Piece

Relative placement is best ONLY when it is SAFE. Head of gang living in foster home…probably not specifically on the checklist. USE SOME COMMON SENSE!

Update: “The last of three suspects linked to one of La Villa’s worst cases of child sex abuse has been charged.

Jose Rostro was given a bond totaling $1 million for his alleged role with parties where gang members would sexually molest children, according to police.

But the 23-year-old suspect is denouncing charges that he sexually abused numerous children under the age of 7.

“It’s a big lie man,” said Jose. “It’s just a lie man.”

Police Chief Mario Leal couldn’t disagree more and calls the details in the case against him monstrous in nature.

Rostro is accused of giving two other fellow alleged gang members access to children, some as young as 4, to be sexually abused.

“I’m sorry the details are not very good… It’s very sickening,” the chief said.

Although trying to stay low-key, Rostro kept up-to-date with his Facebook, and posts led police to see where he was hiding out.

U.S. Marshals arrested the Rostro in late March on a dairy farm nearly 2,000 miles away in Rochester, New York.

He was then extradited back to the valley to face child sex abuse charges.

Chief Leal is thankful Facebook posts led authorities right to him before he could flee to Mexico as a police source said he planned to do.

“We’re not the first ones and we’re not going to be the last ones,” said Leal. “Law enforcement all over the State of Texas and the United States are using this to listen in on their communications… Their conversations.”

Rostro wants the public to know that police have it all wrong. “It wasn’t me.” said Jose.

Police believe there may be more victims and are asking anyone with more information to step forward.

Although innocent until proven guilty, people have been sharing on Action 4’s Ryan Wolf’s Facebook wall about what kind of punishment Jose Rostro should receive if he’s found guilty.”
