From Brownsville, New York, foster father Pedro Guzman, 25, left his severely disabled foster daughter, Destiny Delgado, 5, in a bathtub where she died. Destiny had spina bifida.
“Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said today that the 5-year-old girl died Thursday night [March 29, 2012].
A 25-year-old man was looking after the child. He told investigators that he was giving her a bath in the Brooklyn apartment before she died.
The man said he left the bathroom after he heard a pet dog choking on something. When he returned, the girl was under water.
Kelly said today the death remained under investigation.”

“The girl, named Destiny, may have suffered a seizure, 1010 WINS has learned.
She was living with her foster parents, Maria and Pedro Guzman, who was giving the girl a bath around 7 p.m. Thursday night.
Police said the young girl was left alone for a moment by Pedro, when he returned, he found Destiny under water. He called 911, but the girl was pronounced dead at Brookdale Hospital.
The girl’s foster mother, Maria, was not home at the time.
A doctor noticed some bruising, but it may have been the result of efforts to revive the little girl. The Medical Examiner will determine the exact cause of death.”

Hey all I'am the biological uncle of Destiny–my name is Juan Delgado..it is a tragedy when a child's biological put's said child in the hand's of a complete stranger..when she had a huge family she could had have take care of her.There were no criminal charges handed out but you can rest assure we are working on other means of arrest–can we all say NEGLECT! Not only did they keep Destiny away from her REAL family but now we here that those wanna be parents want to cremate her…is there anyone on here that can help us out legally to put a stop to this ASAP
Jamie and Juan, our hearts go out to your family during this unspeakable loss. We promote kinship care as the first placement for any child and I think it is just horrible that your family was shut out of taking care of her.

my grandfather is in so much pain hes distraught ,to hear my grandfather cry out in pain broke my heart his words to me were she was my little baby as he called her, the one testiny uses to run too and get her dolls and tea set out and play with he said he loved all his grandchildren but testiny was around him from the moment of birth after losing my dad he thought his little baby would be there to ease his pain instead she was torn away from us all as if when my dad died we died along with him we want justice my grandpa wants justice her siblings want justice her grandmother,aunt and uncle want justice testinys uncles and aunts from fathers side want justice and all of testinys cousins, nieces and nephews who was robbed of getting to know they aunt want justice but most of all the voice that went unheard testiny wants justice.
Hi im Desiree.. Im Destinys cousin. I woke up Monday morning feeling a little out of it and my step mother calls me and asks me if im sitting down I tell her yea im in bed whats up. She says I have bad news I think Destiny passed im like what NO this cant be true so I google it and I see Destiny Delgado 5 year old drowning at this point im already torn how could this be.. what was left of my uncle is gone. I get up get dressed my father tells me come on I need you we need answers. So we go to the precint and they tell us its true and that we need to go identify the body. I think to myself I cant do this but i needed to be strong for my dad so we go to Kings County Morge we waited about 20 mins before the guy tells us to go in. Then the time came and we had to do it. We walk into 2 different rooms then finally the last room with a window. He asks us if we ready we say yes even tho in our hearts we knew we werent. He opens the blinds and right away we all break down. Seeing her precious, innocent little body on that table helpless broke me in a million little peices. My dad was screaming sorry Rob sorry. Then he goes back to the window and looks at her one last time also apologizing to her before he finally collapes to the ground. That image of seeing my lil cousin still with her eyes open will never leave me. Every time i close my eyes she is all i see. Please whoever is reading give our angel some justice. She deserves it. God I know you needed an angel and now you have her so now we need you to give us something and give her something.. And that something is Justice. Destiny baby we all love you and we will miss you dearly. Rest In Paradise babygirl.

I’m Back Lilliana Delgado. I Took Same Time Off To Wrap My head to believe that she Gone and the fact the I Almost Had her In My arms… At this moment I Feel guilt become at my Father dying bed I Made my a promise That if anything where to happen to Him That as a family we will Look After Her. Everyone that had comment above knew that my father was the primary caretaker. Obviously he know that the mother was unstable it is why he ask us me and Patricia Delgado to look after her. As I stood up against ACS The biological mom that was charged with medical neglect and Allegedly Haveing Sex with other girls while her daughter was laying next to them. And also Stood up against the foster care parents. Going back to that day where in a legacy conference with all services and the parties involved. It was discussed about her Special needs. I don’t know if child services looked into whether the foster care parents if they where taking her to her specialist appointments. Yes they did look into the foster care Parents talking her to a regular doctor when she needed a to be seen by her specialist that on numerous occasions wrote to my grandfather to inform him that it was time for destiny Shonts to be change. He him sent letters to the foster care of parents. But as Marie stated she didn’t want to bring Destiny back to her specialness that had took care of her since birth. Now it doesn’t take a rocket sciences to read on spina bifida and the tubes from her to head stomach. The to Cearley indicates that if the Shonts in her head didn’t get change it would lead to infection of the brain the can cause seizure… So who’s at fault??? And why is it the forter care parents are still collecting money oh her behalf till toady and collected to check after she past away? Why is it she trying to sue the hospital allegedly because she claims she didn’t know of her condition… It’s obvious that motive is money and has always been about destiny social Security check since day One… Marie Had something over Liz head was it the relationship Liz had with Marie and her husband Meaning sexual encounters. I Don’t know you’ll be the judge of that… I am challenging the reporters the News to let destiny be hard!
