Pennsylvania House Bill 451-Reducing Birthparent Revocation to 20 days

The bill adds several other assault and rape provisions to involuntarily terminate parental rights. They couldn’t help but slip in this provision to reduce the revocation period from 30 days to 20 days.

Supposedly this makes the process “less cumbersome”. Yes, those PAPs have it so hard to wait those extra 10 days.Shedding tears

“Petri added the waiting period is too long.

“We have found that many adoptive parents are unwilling to risk losing a child once they have bonded with the child.” [But apparently they are just fine with permanently severing the original family 10 days sooner. All about the AP.]

The  new bill, which was approved last week in the House of Representative’s  Children and Youth Committee, is on its way to the floor of the House  for consideration.

REFORM Puzzle Piece

At least be honest with why you have this provision. It is not “for the children.”
