China: Original Family Search
Second Time Searching, Still No Results
In 2010, Jan Steenbergen, a Dutch adoptive parent, spent several weeks in Yongxiu trying to find one of his adopted daughter’s original family at his daughter’s request with no success. This daughter was adopted in 2004 at the age of one after a six-year process. He adopted a daughter with special needs in 2007 from Tianjin.
This year, Jan’s goal was to find the family as a Father’s Day present . They spent an additional two weeks in China, again with no success.
Jan “Steenbergen put up many posters on kiosks, visited local orphanages, public security bureaus and hospitals, and even made key rings featuring photos of the girl and delivered them to residents living near the site where she was abandoned.”
“Every year on Quanquan’s birthday, Steenbergen would tell her that her natural parents took her to a warehouse along with a note of her birth date, reassuring her this means they loved her very much.”
“She is very happy and healthy now, but her well-being will improve further if she can find her natural parents, said Steenbergen, a laboratory technician and regular volunteer who accumulated annual leave over several years to allow him to take time off to travel to China.”
