This will be an archive of heinous actions by those involved in child welfare, foster care and adoption. We forewarn you that these are deeply disturbing stories that may involve sex abuse, murder, kidnapping and other horrendous actions.
From Spartanburg, South Carolina, there is a SECOND case today of a 43-year-old male teacher that has been accused of possessing child pornography. Joseph Monroe Wilson “was indicted by a federal grand jury July 24 on charges that he received sexually explicit images and movies of young boys from a Canadian company, U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates said in a statement Monday.
Wilson came under suspicion following an investigation by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
In March, authorities executed a search warrant at Wilson’s home in Dallas and discovered a portrait of a naked boy in Wilson’s closet and sexually explicit images of children on his home computer, Yates said.
At the time, she said, Wilson was in the process of adopting a 7-year-old boy. The adoption will not take place, Yates said.”
“Wilson is charged with receipt of child pornography, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine; and possession of child pornography, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and $250,000 fine.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Linda Walker on Monday set bond for Wilson at $150,000 with conditions that include home detention, GPS monitoring and a requirement that Wilson stay away from children. He is currently residing in Spartanburg, S.C.”

“”This defendant did not simply seek out inappropriate images of children, but as a teacher put himself in a position of trust and authority with respect to children of that same age and went so far as to attempt to adopt a young child,” said U. S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates, in a public statement. “We will do everything in our power to prevent predators from having contact with potential victims in our community.”
“Both charges carry no less than five years to a lifetime of supervised release.
The case is being investigated by the U. S. Postal Inspection Service, with Assistant U. S. Attorney Jill E. Steinberg prosecuting.”

REFORM Puzzle Piece
Update/June 14,2014: “A former Paulding County elementary school teacher was sentenced Wednesday to three years in federal prison for possessing child pornography on his home computer.
Joseph Monroe Wilson, 44, now of Spartanburg, S.C., was a teacher at New Georgia Elementary, near Villa Rica, and was in the process of adopting a child when a search warrant was executed at his Dallas home in March 2012. During the search, investigators found a portrait of a young, naked boy hidden in Wilson’s closet and numerous images of child pornography on his computer, according to U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates.
“This prosecution successfully removed a teacher from the classroom who not only ordered and collected child pornography, but who also had unfettered access to children as a school teacher,” Yates said in an emailed statement. “Because children innocently trust teachers like this man, it is essential that we identify and prosecute such individuals.”
Prosecutors believe Wilson received pornographic images and videos from Canada through the mail, prompting an investigation by the U.S. Postal Service. He was indicted by a grand jury in July 2012.
At the time of the search warrant, Wilson was a teacher and in the process of adopting a 7-year-old boy. He is no longer a teacher and the adoption was halted, Yates said.
Following the completion of his three-year sentence, Wilson will face 30 years of supervised release. He will also be required to register as a sex offender.”
