Opinion: Child Protection Services in Alaska

Occasionally, we will link to media opinions and blogs on aspects of adoption and child welfare that you may never have thought about. This opinion piece questions the removal of children and the incentives that are available to foster parents, but not the biological family.

He touches on the history of the legislations from which payments came from across the US as well as specific ones in Alaska.

He also mentions child abuse in care including this statistic: “In 1999, the National Center on Child Abuse found that six times more children would suffer sexual abuse in foster and adoptive care than do in the general population.”
