Utah Bio Family Places Child into Foster Care Due to Autism Treatment/Costs

Just another example of how lack of mental health accessibility/resources causes placement into foster care. This case is not an anomaly. This story is supposed to be a feel-good story, but it is just plain sad. This family did need some respite, but also therapy and medication . They placed him into a foster family voluntarily : “He receives both weekly counseling and medication, which his family couldn’t afford.”

Poor solution (paying foster parents as only method for child to gain medication and counseling)  for families who can’t afford care nor find more temporary respite.

The biological mother hopes to be reunited with her child by the end of the year. Read the whole story at Foster care transforms one autistic Utah boy
