REFORM Talk’s Forgotten Angels 2012

Last year during National Adoption Month, we honored US adopted children that are missing; missing and presumed dead; killed in previous years and finally received some justice; and/or related to the out-of-original family placements and surrogacy industry that are otherwise forgotten since November of the previous year.

This year and from now on, we will publish this post in December and include all child deaths and children missing from US foster care or adoptions as well as those otherwise forgotten that we could find. Between Forgotten Angels 2011 and now, there have been an additional 62 cases that we shared and another 2 cases that our readers shared .

REFORM Puzzle Pieces

  1. I think it is not fair that you added the cases of Henry Dobrovits and Aziza Caswell in this list together with abused, missing or killed children. In the two cases “reader-shared” the children death is due to severe medical conditions and both kids received excellent medical care and love from their adoptive family. You should be at least fair enough to mention it.

    • You clearly did not read the post at all. I specifically singled these out in the total-the total is 62 not 64 as well as the header and explained that they were medically related.

Again, this is what I said: “This year and from now on, we will publish this post in December and include all child deaths and children missing from US foster care or adoptions as well as those otherwise forgotten that we could find. Between Forgotten Angels 2011 and now, there have been an additional 62 cases that we shared and another 2 cases that our readers shared ” and “Reader-Shared

Both of these deaths were medically-related.”

All deaths that we can find mean *all* deaths. This is a memorial post.Get off your high horse.

  2. I went back and re-read the original post. While I agree that these children need a voice I also agree which the post by ‘Unfair’.
Not only did Henry and Aziza not need to be mentioned by name, the manner in which they were ‘singled out’ is misleading and inappropriate.
If you want to truly memorialize these children you may want to re-think the verbage you use when dealing with those who merely want to make mention of how this ‘memorial post’comes across in the case of these two families in particular.
If you want to debate the merit behind your information and how it was presented then debate it. The previois comment by ‘Unfair’ did not make a personal attack on you; yet wanted to make sure these grieving families were shown some respect for the loss they’ve suffered; yet your response was very disrespectful. If you do not want people to comment, do not make it an option for anyone, not just those who don’t question your methods.

    • There is nothing to debate. We will list names that we find. It will never be able to be comprehensive but it is more comprehensive than other sites that post similar types of cases. We appreciate our readers that send us information. Like it or don’t. Scream that you don’t want me or other readers to pray for these children. I don’t care. This post is meant for our readers to reflect and/or pray for those children that have had unfortunate circumstances.

      • Which is exactly why you will never be a reputable blog. You allow people like Carlee to feed you information while at the same time she leaves horrible comments like “I hope your ugly kid dies just like blah, blah, blah’s child” and then leaves a link about some child that was killed by their adoptive parent. (usually the same 3 stories over and over again) Really, this is who you want “sharing” true information with you? Again, the family asked you to take their child’s name down and you can’t even respect their wishes. You don’t want adopt reform. You want hits for drama so you make more money off your blog. How sad. I thought being adoptive parents you would really want to do some good in the adoption community instead of always playing the “detective” that has the “real” story behind the story when you only have bits and pieces and lots of speculation. Maybe someday there will be a real blog where families can come together for real change instead of this sad sorry excuse for a reform blog.

        • You are too funny! We allow anyone to link to public information. People who blog about their children have no one to blame except themselves if others do not like it. We have said it hundreds of times– password protect that which you don’t want others to know about. Hits for drama? Getting paid? Honey, we don’t make any money at all.Do you see any advertising on here? No, you don’t. All information is provided for free for anyone to use however they feel is necessary for reform. We have formed a large database at this point. Governments look at our information as does media. Your definition of “good” I am sure means making adoption homestudies have less checks and getting children quicker regardless of whether the child or AP is prepared, including those children that really shouldn’t be internationally adopted. Our first goal is to bring awareness to 9 major issues-issues which people like you don’t even feel are issues. I don’t care what you think my goal should be or what you think my blog should be.
