Eye on Adoption Agency Programs- May 2013

Closing Time for Four Agencies

Door out

Since we last left off, we have reported the closings of Frank Adoption Center , ASIAAdoption Ark  and CWA. Russia shutting down was the final nail in each of their coffins.

Both Ends Burning Adds Gladney CEO and President Frank Garrott to the Board of Directors in January 2013

A not -so- funny story is that their announcement reached my inbox on January 24. The link is now broken. Max Shatto died on January 21, 2013. Gladney is the placing agency for Max and his brother and went under investigation for Max’s death at the end of February marking one of the fastest investigations in history. Stuck premiered the week that Max’s death made news. Craig Juntunen loves to say how they are not associated with agencies at all. MmmmmHmmmm… because having the CEO of the placing agency of the latest dead Russian adoptee on your Board is not being involved with adoption agencies. And of course his Chances4Children charity partners with AWAA,CAN,CHI, and Wasatch

CHSFS closed their Ethiopia program

according to PAP clients.

Adoption STAR “Works its Way into Ohio”

That is what the headline said. Adoption STAR works its way into Ohio [Buffalo Business First  2/15/13 by Tracey Drury] They now operate in New York, Florida and Ohio and partner with other agencies. Who did they hire to run the new office? Angela Laman, former executive director for Worlds Together, Inc. international adoption agency, who used to place from Russia. Adoption STAR happily promoted Stuck.  Isn’t it nice how all of these entries blend together?

Hawaii International Child (HIC) starts  pilot embryo matching program

Yes, the next frontier for the dwindling adoption industry is the embryo “adoption” gig. Obviously they are desperate for business, as we outlined just yesterday when they couldn’t get their claws on some newborn adoption money from a desperate mom.

Wasatch is one of the 20 agencies selected by Haiti’s ISEBR to process adoptions under Hague

According to DOS , the others are as follows:

  • A Love Beyond Borders
  • Adoption-Link
  • All Blessings International/Kentucky Adoption Services
  • All God’s Children International
  • America World Adoption
  • Bethany Christian Services
  • Building Arizona Families
  • Carolina Adoption Services, Inc.
  • Children of All Nations
  • Children’s House International
  • Chinese Children Adoption International
  • Dillon International, Inc.
  • European Adoption Consultants, Inc.
  • Holt International Children’s Services, Inc.
  • Lifeline Children’s Services
  • Love Basket
  • MLJ Adoptions, Inc.
  • Nightlight Christian Adoptions
  • Sunny Ridge Family Center, Inc.

Recall, that Love Basket had a wee little issue in Kyrgyzstan  a short while ago, along with CWA. Nightlight was involved with the Adoptive parent entitlement case of Dusten Brown Father’s Rights/ICWA Case. Building Arizona Families and Bethany both have substantiated complaints to COA according to PEAR . MLJ is for-profit and is the butt of many a Facepalm joke. Gotta love that Hague accreditation thing. And to tie back to Both Ends Burning, four of the agencies partner with his charity Chances4Children-Wasatch, AWAA, CAN and CHI.

I could go on, but you get the picture and  I am already nauseated after having to type this much out.
