How Could You? Hall of Shame-Lorna and Timothy Bankston caseUPDATED

This will be an archive of heinous actions by those involved in child welfare, foster care and adoption. We forewarn you that these are deeply disturbing stories that may involve sex abuse, murder, kidnapping and other horrendous actions.

From Crown Point, Indiana, foster parents Lorna C. and Timothy K. Bankston, both 47, “have been charged in Lake Superior Court with battery resulting in bodily injury for allegedly whipping” their 7-year-old foster son ” with a belt for scuffing his shoes.”

“[T]he boy complained of pain to his arm to a school nurse at Hosford Park Elementary School on Jan. 29[2013].

Two other children were removed from the home.

The charge is punishable by a maximum three-year sentence.”

Update: A search of Lake County Superior court records shows that Timothy  and Lorna had a formal appearance on June 7, 2013. They had omnibus hearings on July 26,2013 and August 28, 2013. The next omnibus hearing for both  is scheduled for October 1, 2013. They both face one D felony count of Battery Resulting in Bodily Injury (vic less than 14 yrs and def at least 18).

Update 2: A search of Lake County Superior court records shows that the Charge was dismissed by the state on 10/22/13.
