How Could You? Hall of Shame-Scott Gordon Henry UPDATED

This will be an archive of heinous actions by those involved in child welfare, foster care and adoption. We forewarn you that these are deeply disturbing stories that may involve sex abuse, murder, kidnapping and other horrendous actions.

From Henrico, Virginia, former licensed professional counselor and certified substance abuse counselor Scott Gordon Henry, 67, pled guilty “in Caroline County Circuit Court to several counts of aggravated sexual battery and one count of indecent liberties against both juvenile patients and adult ones with mental disabilities.

Circuit Court Judge J. Howe Brown sentenced Henry to 52 years in prison with all but 13 suspended per the plea agreement.
The court dropped 21 similar charges as part of the agreement, which was made because of Henry’s age, health problems and the impact testifying would have on the victims, according to The Free-Lance Star.
According to the terms of the agreement, Henry must register as a sex offender, have supervised contact with minors and have no further contact with seven of his victims.
Henry was a formerly licensed therapist with the Rappahannock Area Community Services Board. His victims included a 6-year-old, a child younger than 13, a boy younger than 15 and a 48-year-old man with intellectual challenges.
“There aren’t enough years in eternity to punish you for what you did,” Brown told Henry in court, reported by The Free Lance-Star. “Not just to the people who trusted you, but you must’ve known you were sick and didn’t seek help.”

Scott’s licenses to practice were suspended on February 6, 2013.
He had been accused of a sexual crime with a 6 year old  in which he appeared before the licensing board, but he was allowed to continue counseling children according to NBC12. “The charges against Henry are shocking to neighbors, but NBC12  found an allegation dating back to 2007. In an official notice from the Virginia Board of Counseling, Henry was called before the board. It says a 6-year-old boy who was a patient at RACPS said the therapist put his hands in the boys pants and touched him in the genital area.  But about a year later, the board exoneratedHenry and closed the case.It says,”…the committee concluded you did not violate any statutes or regulations governing the practice of professional counseling.”Henry continued to work at RACPS until his arrest this week. “

According to Fredericksburg.com, this recent case was sparked by a different 6-year-old child.”The guardian reported that things were said by the victim during a conversation that led the guardian to believe something inappropriate happened, Lippa said.Henry was then charged with aggravated sexual battery in Caroline Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.

“After it was made public, we began to have other parents calling about their children,” Abato said during Wednesday’s bond hearing. “We now have four victims, three of which I have charges for.”

According to the indictments, 22 of the charges are related to incidents that are believed to have occurred between January 2003 and January 2004 and involved a victim who was under the age of 13.

One of the indecent liberties charges is from an incident that is said to have occurred between January 2007 and January 2008 with a different victim under the age of 15.

One of the aggravated sexual battery charges is said to have occurred between May 17 and May 31 of 2002 with a victim who was physically or mentally incapacitated.

A December statement from Rappahannock Area Community Services Board Executive Director Ronald Branscome confirmed that Henry has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.”
