This will be an archive of heinous actions by those involved in child welfare, foster care and adoption. We forewarn you that these are deeply disturbing stories that may involve sex abuse, murder, kidnapping and other horrendous actions.
From Colorado Springs, Colorado, group home Nevada House supervisor Amanda Rose Santos, 32, “is accused of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust, a Class 4 felony, Colorado Springs police said Monday.
Santos is not employed by the county, said Jennifer Brown, a spokeswoman for DHS. Brown said Santos works for a private company that runs Nevada House, 2129 N. Nevada Ave., a group home where police say the alleged sexual assault happened.
“According to the male victim, the supervisor sexually assaulted him soon after his arrival at the center, during the month of December 2012,” police said in a news release.
The alleged victim is 17 years old, police spokeswoman Barbara Miller said.
“The victim stated that he initially did not come forward with his allegations because he was afraid he would not be believed since the suspect was a staff member. He was also afraid he would get in trouble,” the release states.
Police received the report of the alleged sexual assault April 19. The patrol officer’s report was then forwarded to the police department’s Adult Sexual Assault Unit, police said.”
