Two Children Rescued from Illegal Nigerian Adoption

“THE Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Akwa Ibom State command, on Thursday, rescued two children from illegal adoption.

The children, whose names were given as Temitope Olaoluwa, 8, and Happiness Tayo, 12 were rescued at Ikpa Market at the outskirts of Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, where a driver who was instructed by one Idara, a former maid, to bring to her at Akpabuyo, Cross River State.

Saturday Tribune gathered that the driver, who took them to Ikpa Market, with the intention to hand them over to a market woman who
would have in turn handed them to Idara, was intercepted by a NSCDC officer, Mr Bernard Udo, at the market.

The Head of Public Relations/Protocol, NSCDC, Akwa Ibom State, Mr Ime White, told our correspondent in Uyo that the children were living with one Mrs Iniobong Olaoluwa, who was brutal to both them, as well as Idara, who had earlier left her and had a new place at Akpabuyo and had planned to move the two new maids to the place.”
