How Could You? Hall of Shame-India-Palwinder Singh

This will be an archive of heinous actions by those involved in child welfare, foster care and adoption. We forewarn you that these are deeply disturbing stories that may involve sex abuse, murder, kidnapping and other horrendous actions.

From Jagraon, India, adoptee Palwinder Singh was arrested on August 22, 2013 for “cold-blooded murder” of his adoptive parents Avtar Singh and Veerpal Kaur.
“The couple was killed by a sword at Chakar village on August 20. Palwinder confessed to his crime and stated that he lived with his uncle and auntie (Mama and Mami) who had adopted him as they had no issue but now they were planning to have a baby through IVF which was not acceptable to Palwinder.

In his statement, Palwinder said that his father used to abuse him on a daily basis and was not dividing the property. He was not even allowing the accused to marry the girl of his choice. So in a fit of rage, he killed his foster parents on Wednesday.

Palwinder had attacked his parents when they were sleeping in the lobby and he attacked them with a naked sword multiple times, leading to their death on the spot. He later ran away from the spot and was arrested on Thursday morning from the village only, said SSP Ashish Chaudhary.

An FIR was registered on the statement of Bant Singh, an uncle of Palwinder who along with his wife had come to meet Veerpal Kaur and Avtar Singh. Bant Singh said that after dinner they discussed paying a visit to some infertility expert which was overheard by Palwinder.

Later in the night, Palwinder murdered his foster parents and even knocked at the room of Bant Singh and his wife, but they never opened the room and later when he ran away from the house, they came out and found the couple dead.”
