How Could You? Hall of Shame-Mark Rohrer

“Two of multiple victims faced him in court. The first told Rohrer, 38, of Quincy, “you stole my childhood – I lost the woman I was suppose to become. I am a victim of childhood sexual abuse. I am a survivor.”Speaking as one of many victims the second said she forgave Rohrer because that was “the way I could free myself.”

Rohrer’s only comment to the court was, “I have betrayed people’s trust. For that I apologize.” Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Valerie White said Rohrer “took away the childhood of a number of victims.”She chose two cases “as a voice for the others” filing five life felonies. She agreed to a plea bargain so the girls would not have to facer a grueling trial. He entered a no contest plea without admitting anything.

Defense attorney J. R. Colbeck said, “facts are in dispute. He knows what he did and did not do.”

One young woman came forward after she learned Rohrer was grooming another young girl for sex. She told investigators that beginning in January 2001 when she was just nine, Rohrer began committing sexual acts with her until 2008 when she was 16 years old. Hundreds of forced sexual contact occurred in homes and on trips during the time.

The second case allegedly occurred between May until August 2006 when a 13 year old a girl foster child lived with Rohrer and his wife in the Quincy area on Jonesville Road. Two counts of CSC was charged in this case.”
