Two Canadian Foster Children Arrested in Assault

This will be an archive of heinous actions by those involved in child welfare, foster care and adoption. We forewarn you that these are deeply disturbing stories that may involve sex abuse, murder, kidnapping and other horrendous actions.

“Brandon police were called to a foster home Monday night after a report of two girls assaulting their foster parent.

Police were told the 16-year-old girls living in the foster residence arrived home intoxicated and with liquor around 10:25 p.m. Monday.

Police say the 45-year-old foster parent attempted to take the liquor away and was physically assaulted by the girls, one of them striking the parent in the upper body with a chair.

The victim was taken to a Brandon hospital for treatment of her injuries.

One of the assailants attempted to flee the scene by jumping in the victim’s car.

Police say officers arrived on the scene and saw that person reverse and crash the vehicle into the foster residence. The girl then quickly put the car in drive and crashed into a tree in the front yard which deployed airbags.

She was arrested, but managed to “kick one of the officer’s in a sensitive area of the body” when being put in the back of a cruiser, Brandon police said in a release.

This accused is facing eight charges in connection with these events, including assault with a weapon, dangerous driving, impaired driving, refusing to take a blood test, assaulting a police officer, aggravated assault, and violating probation conditions restricting the consumption of alcohol.

She was taken to hospital and treated for injuries resulting from airbags deploying in the stolen vehicle crash.

The second young girl involved was also arrested and is up against criminal charges, including aggravated assault.

Brandon police said the second girl spit into the eyes of an officer taking her into custody, which resulted in an additional charge of assaulting a police officer.

A 14-year-old girl is also facing a charge under the Youth Criminal Justice Act for probation violation.

She arrived at the foster parent’s home intoxicated when police were still on the scene and was taken to Brandon Correctional Centre, but was expected to be released Tuesday morning.”
