Lawsuit: Sharlotte Sutton

“A Staten Island woman has been sued for child support by the man who now cares for three children that she adopted and gave up while still continuing to receive adoption subsidies, the Daily News reported.

Sharlotte Sutton, 37, of Staten Island, is receiving $2,300 from the city to support three teen-age children who now are being cared for by the plaintiff, Christian Robles, 26, the Daily News said.

Loopholes in city regulations and lack of oversight allow Ms. Sutton and hundreds of other people to legally pocket adoption subsidies for children no longer in their homes, according to the Daily News.

Robles said in Bronx Surrogate Court that Ms. Sutton only handed over to him a small portion of the subsidies.[Why just a small portion?]

Bronx Magistrate Anthony Lopez issued a temporary order for Ms. Sutton to pay $2,000 per month to Robles.”

  1. Er… she’s being paid $2,300 in adoption subsidies for children she’s no longer caring for, but she’s only told to turn over $2,000 to the guy who’s actually caring for them?

What’s the $300 she’s allowed to keep for? A finders fee?
