From Edgemere, Maryland, “An infant left in a car earlier this month has died, according to Baltimore County police.

Investigators said a woman who worked at the church was going to drop off her 13-month-old foster child at a day care center next to the church.

“A woman working at the church had arrived and was going to drop her 13-month-old foster child off at the day care next door. She saw someone she wanted to talk to in the parking lot, so she began speaking with that person,” Baltimore County police spokesman Cpl. John Watcher said.

Police said she then walked inside the church.

“When she returned to her vehicle, she found the child in cardiac arrest. She immediately called 911 and began CPR,” Watcher said.

The child was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, where she died. Police said the child was identified as Paris Bena Hall, of Randallstown.

Ethel Jefers works at the day care and said the foster mother is devastated. They all are.

“Very sweet baby; she was walking and beginning to talk,” Jefers said.

Neighbors that know the woman were also evestated. [sic]Nina Sonin said she has known the woman for many years and that the infant was cared for by the family and there was no sign of abuse at all.

“It’s sad,” Sonin said. “I’m a grandmother, so it’s sad.”

Sonin said along with being upset over the child’s death, she also feels for the foster mother.

“Obviously you feel sorry for the child,” Sonin said. “It’s an innocent child. But I feel sorry for (the woman), because I can’t imagine how broken-hearted she is, and I know that she was extremely distraught. I talked to her sister, extremely distraught.”

Police are calling it a death investigation and since a child is involved, homicide detectives are looking into the case.”
