How Could You? Hall of Shame- Cyrenity Gordon case-Child death and Lawsuit

This will be an archive of heinous actions by those involved in child welfare, foster care and adoption. We forewarn you that these are deeply disturbing stories that may involve sex abuse, murder, kidnapping and other horrendous actions.

From Madison County, Missouri, “A foster mother is being sued for wrongful death by the administrator of the estate of a girl who died while in her care.

Rene Butler, independent administrator of the estate of the late Cyrenity Gordon, deceased, [born August 13, 2013 – deceased March 24, 2014] filed suit Aug. 21 in Madison County Circuit Court for a wrongful death suit settlement against Apryl Pitman, the foster mother in whose care Gordon had been placed.

The suit alleges that Gordon died as a direct result of an act of negligence on the part of Pitman, and seeks a settlement in the amount of $100,000, to be paid on the behalf of Pitman’s insurer, and to be divided in specific terms among Gordon’s family, the medical facility that provided care for Gordon, her legal representation and the administrator.

The lawsuit also provides for further allocation of said funds to the family to be determined by the court, as well as any further relief determined just and proper by said court.

Butler and the Gordon family are being represented by Joseph R. Hillebrand of St. Louis.”
