How Could You? Hall of Shame-Braydyn Scheidt case-Child Death

This will be an archive of heinous actions by those involved in child welfare, foster care and adoption. We forewarn you that these are deeply disturbing stories that may involve sex abuse, murder, kidnapping and other horrendous actions.

From Fresno, California, “the Sheriff’s Office is investigating the suspicious death of a 2-year-old foster child who died in a home southeast of Fresno on Sunday.

The victim was identified as Braydyn Scheidt.

On Sunday, deputies were dispatched to a home on the … near Kings Canyon Road in Fresno. There, the victim’s foster mother told deputies that she put the boy down for a nap on his bed, sheriff’s spokesman Tony Botti said. After a few hours, a sibling told the woman that the boy did not look well. The woman went into the bedroom and found the boy discolored and not breathing. The foster father immediately began CPR on the boy, but he had passed away, Botti said.

The Fresno County Coroner’s Office has conducted an autopsy, but the manner and cause of death are still pending. “At this point, it is being called suspicious due to the fact that the victim is 2 years old and it’s not clear why he died,” Botti said in an email.

Botti also said the foster parents were cooperative with detectives. No arrests were made.”
