From Phoenix, Arizona, “a foster mother is facing charges after she failed to report her own son was sexually assaulting her foster child, and investigators say she ignored the child’s cries for help.

The foster mother is not being named to protect the minors involved.

Police say she didn’t report the abuse to officials until two weeks after she first learned of the abuse.

Court documents reveal disturbing details about alleged inappropriate touching at the hands of a 13-year-old boy. The victim is a 16 year-old  autistic foster child. The 13 year-old is the biological son of a woman the Department of Children’s Services trusted with foster care services. But court paperwork details how she failed to report it for 14 days.

The foster parent is an employee at Cheatam Elementary School, where district officials placed her on administrative leave Friday.

The Department of Children’s Services released a statement that read in part “to make sure all Arizona children are safe, DCS expects caregivers to follow the law and department policy, and to be held to a high standard of behavior.”

The paperwork also reveals the foster parent initially denied that the victim told her about her son inappropriately touching him on multiple occasions. Therefore the abuse continued. She is charged with child abuse and failure to report.”
