From Anderson, South Carolina, “a 17-year-old girl has been shot and killed while deer hunting with her foster father in Anderson.

Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore told media outlets that Amanda Foster was struck by one bullet from a high-powered rifle fired by her father around 6 p.m. Thursday.

Shore says the pair was hunting on family property.

The coroner’s office is investigating along with the Department of Natural Resources.

Foster was a junior at Pendleton High School, and the coroner says she loved to hunt and often went hunting after school.”

“A teen is dead after she was shot in an apparent hunting accident Thursday afternoon in Anderson County, officials said. He said the bullet entered her back and exited through her left chest.

Authorities say the girl, identified as Amanda Foster, was struck by a round from her foster dad’s high-powered rifle and was taken to a nearby hospital where she died.

Deputies responded to the woods behind Foster’s home.

“She loved it, and had a passion for it”, Shore said. The foster father fired the shot.

Shore says the pair was hunting on family property.

The Sheriff’s Office has turned the investigation over to the Department of Natural Resources.

Avery said counselors will be available to Pendleton High School students to help cope with the loss. She was working hard to fulfill her dreams of going to college.

A few students were planning to wear Foster’s favorite color of purple to honor her at the football game, he said.”
