How Could You? Hall of Shame-Robert Carroll Bonebrake Jr. UPDATED

From Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, former foster parent Robert Carroll Bonebrake Jr.,68, “is charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, attempted involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent assault of a person younger than 13 years old, and endangering the welfare of a child.”

He ” will go to trial Tuesday on allegations he sexually abused a young boy.”

According to court documents, Bonebrake, a foster parent at the time, is accused of molesting a young boy in mid-November of 2013. The boy told police that he vomited upon remembering one of the incidents, and told a woman caring for him about the abuse.

The boy described the abuse to police, stating that Bonebrake attempted to make the boy perform sexual acts. The boy told police Bonebrake “had sex with me” and described other forms of abuse, according to court documents.

Bonebrake pleaded not guilty to the charges in November of 2014, and has been awaiting trial on $250,000 bond.

According to court documents, witnesses will include an 11-year-old boy and adults who the victim interacted with at the time. Trooper Jeffrey Baney and medical professionals are also expected to testify during the two day trial.

Court documents also show a variety of final motions were made and decided upon along with agreed upon stipulations, but information on these were impounded from public view.

The case will be prosecuted by First Assistant District Attorney Lauren Sulcove. Bonebrake is represented by attorney Tracy Ross.

Trial will begin 9 a.m. Jan. 5, in front of Franklin County Judge Jeremiah Zook.”

Update: He is Dead!

“A Chambersburg man accused of sexually abusing a young boy died before he could go to trial.

Robert Carroll Bonebrake Jr., 68, died prior to going to trial on charges of child sex abuse for a foster child in his care. Franklin County District Attorney Matt Fogal confirmed Bonebrake’s death, and said it was related to why Bonebrake’s trial was postponed last week.

Bonebrake, a former Gettysburg-area teacher and foster parent, was charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, attempted involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent assault of a person younger than 13 years old, and endangering the welfare of a child, according to court documents.

The allegations against him included that a young boy in his care was molested and raped in mid-November 2013. The boy told police that Bonebrake had sex with him and described other types of abused.

Bonebrake had been released after using a bond to make his $250,000 bail.

Details of Bonebrake’s death were not available as of Friday afternoon.”
