From Warwickshire,England, “the trial of two men accused of indecently assaulting youngsters at a Coventry children’s home will begin today.

Alan Todd and Kenneth Owen, both aged 69, face accusations of child cruelty as part of an investigation in to historic abuse at Wisteria Lodge in Earlsdon.

They will stand trial at Warwick Crown Court from Monday morning and have pleaded not guilty to every allegation against them.

Todd, of Tile Hill Lane, Tile Hill, denies five counts of child cruelty against different youngsters between September 1983 and July 1984.

He has also denied eight other offences of indecent assault against three different children under the age of 16 between June 1987 and August 1988.

Owen, of Dickin Hill Road, Boston, Lincolnshire, has pleaded not guilty to four charges of child cruelty said to have taken place between September 1983 and July 1984.

He also pleaded not guilty to three counts of indecent assault, against one girl aged under 16, between June 1987 and August 1988.

A third man arrested as part of the investigation is due to stand trial at a later date.

Russell Garner, 55, of Orchard Street, Bedworth, has pleaded not guilty to one count of ill-treatment of a child under 16.

All three men are currently on bail on the condition they do not contact each other or any of the witnesses.

None of the men are allowed to have unsupervised contact with children aged under 18.

The case against a fourth man has been dismissed.”
