From Portage, Indiana, “a 36-year-old Portage man is accused of having sex with an underage [foster] girl.
Taliaferro Buckingham, … is charged with three felony counts of sexual misconduct with a minor. He had not been arrested as of Friday morning.
The girl, who is a teenager, told police the abuse took place last month, saying Buckingham had sex with her four or five times.
Buckingham is accused of telling the girl not to say anything about the sexual encounters or write anything about it in her journal.
Buckingham repeatedly denied the accusations, but wavered during questioning between saying that sex offenders should be harmed and that they should be given help and a second chance, police said.”

Update: A search of the Indiana court records shows that Taliaferro will have a pre-trial conference on 6/3/16 and a jury trial on 7/18/16.
Update 2:“The foster mom of a girl who claims she was sexually assaulted while in her care told jurors Wednesday afternoon the girl never brought the accusations to her attention.
Rosalyn Buckingham, who also is mother of the accused, Taliaferro Buckingham, testified after prosecutors wrapped up their case in this week’s trial.
The defense kicked off its portion of the trial with her testimony.
She said in response to questioning from prosecutors that she was not able to keep an eye on all five of the foster children at all times.
She said the alleged victim never told her she loved the accused and he did not pay special attention to the girl.
Taliaferro Buckingham, 38, of Portage, is charged with three felony counts of sexual misconduct with a minor.
The 17-year-old girl, who was 15 at the time of the alleged incidents, told police Buckingham forced her to have sex four or five times during a two-week period in December 2015 at a mobile home in Portage, in addition to other sex acts, according to charging information.
Defense attorney Michael Lambert has said the allegations are untrue.
The girl and her four younger siblings were reportedly wards of Lake County at the time of the abuse. All five children were removed from the Portage foster home after the allegations of abuse came to light.
The trial is underway before Porter Superior Court Judge Jeff Clymer.”

According to The Indiana Court case records,Talliaferro was found“GUILTY OF COUNT I: SEXUAL MISCONDUCT WITH A MINOR, LEVEL 4 FELONY; GUILTY OF COUNT II: SEXUAL MISCONDUCT WITH A MINOR, LEVEL 4 FELONY; AND GUILTY TO COUNT III: SEXUAL MISCONDUCT WITH A MINOR, LEVEL 5 FELONY.”
