How Could You? Hall of Shame-Hungarian Adoptive Mom Tara McNeill Palajac-Child Death

From Santa Clara, California, Hungarian adoptive mother,”Tara McNeill Palajac, 51, was arraigned in the Jan. 8 death of her adopted son at their Santa Clara home.”

“A woman in Santa Clara faces a murder charge after police said she confessed to drowning her 12-year-old adopted son in a bathtub.”

Neighbors said they’re stunned by her arrest, especially in light of the role she played in the neighborhood. Some neighbors said Palajac had two adopted sons who were polite and liked to play soccer

Both of her adopted sons are believed to be from Hungary. One neighbor said the adoptive parents have sent the boys back to Hungary for visits during school breaks to see their biological parents.

Palajac was a longtime Silicon Valley finance and product manager who is being held without bail at the county jail in the psychiatric ward for the crime she allegedly confessed to.

Her adopted son died at the family’s home on Connor Place in Santa Clara’s Midtown Village.

Neighbors knew Palajac as the homeowner association’s chief financial officer.

Bill Yueng is the President of the HOA said he never pictured Palajac doing this to her adopted son.

Police said she called and initially told them she found her son unconscious in the bathtub and tried to give him CPR, but after an interrogation they said she confessed to holding him in the water until he was lifeless.

Yeung is among the many in the community now wondering what happened and why. “She seems to be very nice person when we deal with business. She seems to be very professional,” Yeung said.

Palajac is expected to enter a plea on February 1, but for now she remains on suicide watch.

According to court documents the child was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead about two hours later.

Palajac is expected to be in court on Monday.”[February 1, 2016]

“Police say that detectives, including Rodriguez, conducted a lengthy follow-up interview Jan. 11 with Palajac, during which she reportedly admitted that she held the child under water “until he was lifeless.” She was arrested the next day and booked into the Santa Clara County Jail, where she remains without bail.”
