Four Teens Assault Group Home Workers
“Cumberland City Police say they arrested four underage girls for assault early Thursday morning.
Officers say they responded to the Leslie Lane Group Home for an assault just after midnight.
A staff member told them four juvenile females assaulted them. One employee was hit with a metal pipe.
Police say the girls got keys to a company vehicle and tried to leave the group home. They drove that car, crashed the vehicle over and embankment, and then police say they ran from there.
Police found the girls a short time later and arrested them.
The worker was taken to Western Maryland Regional Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The juveniles were also taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries after the car crash.
One girl, age 17, and two girls both age 16, were charged as adults with one count of 1st-Degree Assault, two counts of 2nd-degree assault, armed robbery, motor vehicle theft, theft $10,000 to under $100,000, destruction of property, reckless endangerment, and deadly weapon with intent to injure. These three juveniles are awaiting an initial appearance at District Court.
The fourth girl, age 14, was charged with the same offenses, and was released to the custody of the Department of Juvenile Services.”
