From Ashtabula, Ohio,”the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Department and Children Services Board are investigating the reported rape of a 6-year-old boy by another 14-year-old boy in 2015.

According to a Sheriff’s Department report, the victim’s grandmother, who took custody of him in October 2015, reported the sexual assault to deputies Monday afternoon. She first informed county social workers, but they directed her to the Sheriff’s Department.

She had enrolled the boy in counseling after taking custody because he was reportedly acting out and withdrawn about emotional issues.

The boy, however, opened up about the sexual assault Monday. He told his grandmother it occurred when he was in his last foster home, committed by the foster parent’s 14-year-old son.

The suspect, who has been identified by police, reportedly fondled the boy and forced him into intercourse.

“(The victim) stated he told his foster mom, who did not do anything about it,” the deputy wrote in his report — she instead stayed in her room watching TV. “(The victim) stated that the suspect continued to do it to him all day.

“(The victim) said it happened on a lot of days,” the deputy wrote. “After speaking with me, (the victim) appeared to relax and told me about all the sports he plays.”

A Sheriff’s Department detective and the county Children Services Board are continuing the investigation.”
