How Could You? Hall of Shame-Christian and Virginia Seagren

From Mound City, Kansas, adoptive parents Christian and Virginia Seagren are “facing several counts of child abuse and aggravated child endangerment after allegations that they abused seven of their adopted children.

Christian Seagren spent only a few minutes in court Tuesday morning. He and his wife, Virginia Seagren, are accused of abusing their adopted children.

Prosecutors said serious crimes happened at the family’s home during the months of June, July and August of this year.

“They are serious charges, but at this point, they’re just allegations,” defense attorney Burton Harding said. “It’s not uncommon for charges to come in very high in some sort of attempt to enter some sort of plea negotiations.”

The couple’s church is standing behind them, saying what they’ve seen doesn’t match the accusations.

“I was totally shocked. You know, it was just foreign to anything that we saw from them,” Rutlader Outpost Cowboy Church pastor Carl Garrett said. “I wrote a letter of recommendation to the judge when they were trying to make the decision to let the folks have them.”

The couple face three counts of child abuse and seven counts of aggravated child endangerment.”
