From Selma, Alabama, foster parents Lee Wiggins, 25 and Kalehua Wiggins,30 have been “arrested Thursday and charged with child abuse after their 13-year-old foster child with special needs came to school with “significant” bruising, police say.

Lee Wiggins, 25, is charged with aggravated child abuse and second-degree assault, according to Selma police. He is being held in the Dallas County Jail on $200,000 bond. His wife, Kalehua Wiggins, 30, is charged with aggravated child abuse. She was released from jail on $100,000 bond.

Police say the 13-year-old girl arrived for classes at a Selma middle school with bruising to her arms, legs, thigh and buttocks. The girl told police her foster father beat her with a thick leather belt and her foster mother didn’t intervene.

The foster parents were arrested after being interviewed by detectives. ”
