Kenya: 16-year-old Stabs Foster Father to death

“A 16 year-old girl morning stabbed his foster father to death in Athi River town, Machakos County, in an incident which shocked area residents.
Confirming the incident, Athi River OCPD Sharma Wario said the form two student at Athi River Secondary School afterwards presented herself to the police, where she reported the horrible incident.
Wario said the deceased, Shadrack Mwasia was living together with the girl and her mother in same house within the town before the incident took place.
“The deceased operated a small kiosk with his wife at Makadara shopping centre in Athi River town.
The couple had gone to their clothes’ shop at 8.30 in the morning on the fateful day before he returned to the house and attempted to rape the girl,” said Wario.
He said the deceased quarreled with the girl before she managed to free herself and ran to the kiosk where her mother was.
Wario said the deceased followed the girl to the kiosk and found her narrating the incident to the mother.
He said a quarrel ensued between Mwasia and his wife before he took a stick and began whipping both the girl and the mother.
Wario said it was at that point that the girl picked a knife and stabbed the father on the right side of the heart.
He said the deceased was rushed to 24 Hospital in Athi River town by members of the public where he died while undergoing treatment.
The Police boss said the body of the victim was moved to Machakos Level Five Hospital.
The suspect is in police custody helping in investigations into the incidents.
He said the girl’s mother Elizabeth Nzilani had gone into hiding and was being pursued by the police.”
