Ranch For Kids 2016
So, I thought I would look up what Ranch for Kids is doing. We last covered Ranch for Kids back in 2013. That’s when the licensing branch said that they must get a license or shut down.Remember,”Epicenter International Missions Ministry, run by a former employee of the ranch, did not qualify as a real religious institution. She added that the ranch had only begun claiming a religious exemption status several months after she first delivered it a cease-and-desist letter on June 28th, 2011.
“And even so,” Tapper tells Latitude News, “just because a program is associated with a church doesn’t mean that there aren’t problems there.”
and “Latitude News covered that story when it happened and was the first news organization to discover that state inspectors had found building and fire code violations at the ranch.”
They have a new website: Ranch For Kids. They got licensed in July 2015.
Now there is a new director, Bill Sutley . According to Pound Pup Legacy, it turns out that Bill is Joyce Sterkel’s SON.
Also, Joyce was previously married to Ivan Volsky, facilitator for Global Adoption Services. Kathryn Volsky is the logistics coordinator for Ranch for Kids and Mikhail Volsky is a program manager for Ranch for Kids.
So Joyce’s family is now running the ranch.
REFORM Puzzle Piece
I’ve read of that “Go out of business, then reopen under another name” trick before. It’s a way for crooked home contractors to escape in-warranty repairs and negative BBB ratings.
Hopefully, the fact that they’re now licensed means that the building safety issues have been fixed. Whether their program is actually doing any good for the youths in it is another story.
