From Gadsden, Alabama, foster parents “Garren Dodd McDonald, 48, and Shelley Lanette McDonald, 43, each were charged with one count of child abuse.

Information was reported to the sheriff’s office May 19 by the Department of Human Resources that an 18-month old foster child was possibly being abused by foster parents. After a full investigation, along with many interviews conducted by the James M. Berrie Center for Children, warrants were obtained and issued for the McDonalds.

The couple was booked into the Etowah County Detention Center and later released on $10,000 cash bond each. As a condition of the bond, they are not allowed to have any children living in their house and are prohibited from any unsupervised contact with anyone under 18 years of age.”
