How Could You? Hall of Shame-Social Worker Amy Walls

From Crawfordsville, Indiana, “a former social worker from Crawfordsville was arrested and charged with three counts of sexual misconduct with a minor Thursday. Amy Walls, 46, Crawfordsville was taken into custody on a warrant out of Allen County. According to court documents, the charges were filed Wednesday in Allen County Superior Court.

Walls has held different jobs in the social services field. According to documents obtained by The Paper, Walls was a supervisor with the Montgomery County Department of Child Services. She also was a therapist with Rescare, according to a story in the Ft. Wayne News-Sentinel.

The charges stem from an alleged sexual relationship she had with a 14-year-old client in late 2015 and early 2016, according to published reports.

She was arrested early Thursday morning by the Crawfordsville Police Department and taken to the Montgomery County Jail, according to Crawfordsville Assistant Chief Jim Sessions. Montgomery County Sheriff Chief Deputy Ryan Needham said that Walls was transported from the Montgomery County Jail to the Allen County Jail.

The Paper confirmed that Walls was being held at the Allen County Jail on $30,000 bond.

The News-Sentinel reported that in Fort Wayne the 14-year-old’s father called police in January 2016. The father told police that his son, who had been in a group home in Indianapolis, allegedly was having a sexual relationship with his therapist, the probable-cause affidavit said.

The father told police that his Rescare therapist allegedly mailed the boy a new cell phone and later drove to Ft. Wayne for what the father thought was therapy. The story reported that the affidavit detailed the boy telling his father that Walls had performed a sex act on him during that visit.

Police went to the home after a complaint from the boy’s father. He claimed Walls visited when he was away from the residence. The boy’s younger brother reportedly told police he saw Walls but that his older brother told him not to say anything. The boy’s father said he found two used condoms in his son’s bedroom.

Walls also allegedly brought a dog she rescued from the Marion County Animal Shelter and left behind paperwork with her name and address on it, the affidavit said.

The boy reportedly told authorities he had sex with Walls three times. ”
