Two Juvenile Group Home Residents Arrested For Grand Theft Auto

“Cape Coral Police patrol officers recovered two runaway juveniles along with the Chrysler van they had stolen from their group home in Hillsborough County.

Officers responded to a report of the stolen vehicle being parked at Wawa at 1622 NE Pine Island Road.

The Chrysler van was located and officers spotted the two runaways nearby next to the Outback Restaurant. Officers recognized William Glisson, 16, and Johnny Peterson, 14, based on an alert regarding their runaway status and the stolen vehicle.

Peterson threw the van keys to the ground upon spotting officers, and both boys were detained. Forensics responded to process the vehicle for prints, and probable cause was established for the arrest of both Glisson and Peterson.

Glisson and Peterson were charged with grand theft auto and transported to the Juvenile Assessment Center. Hillsborough County was notified of the recovery of both the youths and of the Chrysler van.”
