How Could You? Hall of Shame-Leshia Green-Child Death UPDATED

From Lee County, Georgia, foster mother Leshia Green “was arrested Friday afternoon and is facing two counts of cruelty to a child in the first degree” in the death of her 4-year-old foster child.

“The death investigation began when Lee County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a house on Mayfield Drive just after 4 a.m. Wednesday.[September 27,2017]

Officials are still working to determine a cause death.

There were two other children in Green’s care. At least one of them is in the custody of the Division of Family and Children Services.

Green will have her first court appearance at 2 p.m. on Monday at the Magistrate Courthouse.”

“”The foster mother has been arrested,” said Lee County Chief Sheriff’s Deputy Lewis Harris Jr. “Further charges (in the case) are pending.

“We’re still waiting for lab results to come back from the GBI crime lab and for evidence to be processed.”

Lee SO officials said the 911 call center was contacted at 4:09 a.m. Wednesday about an injured child at the Mayfield residence, with EMTs arriving at the home three minutes later. The injured child, age 4, was taken to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital and was pronounced deceased shortly afterward.

A cause of death has not been announced.”

Her hearing is scheduled for November. ”

Update 2:“A woman wanted for the murder of a four-year-old child in Lee County in September 2017 has turned herself in.

50-year-old Leshia Michelle Green turned herself in Sunday just after lunch according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

This comes after deputies alerted the public about Green last week.

Green is now facing a felony murder charge.”
