Six Group Home Teens Arrested For Stealing Firearms
“Deputies arrested six boys ranging in age from 12 to 15 for allegedly breaking into two Altadena homes on Sunday and stealing several firearms including an AR-15 rifle.
The suspects live in a group home in Altadena. Deputies recovered the AR-15 rifle, a 1911 handgun, ammunition as well as a BB gun that looks like a handgun.
Deputy Joana Warren said deputies are looking for two more firearms and checking if the suspects are responsible for other burglaries.
The Los Angeles County sheriff’s Altadena station received several calls on Sunday afternoon about a burglary in the area of Mountain View Street and Casitas Avenue. Deputies were in the neighborhood when residents called to report spotting suspicious people, according to a department statement.
Lt. Gary Harman said the suspects broke into a home in the 500 block of Mountain View Street at 2:15 p.m. and another home in the 600 block of Mountain View Street at 3:16 p.m.
He said deputies arrested one suspect in front of the second house and another suspect was ordered out of the home. He said some of the suspects ran to the back but were later caught.
Harman said the last suspect was caught when the boy showed up at the group home.
The suspects include two 12-year-olds, two 13-year-olds and two 15-year-olds, according to Harman. Deputies arrested them on suspicion of burglary and took them to a juvenile hall.”
