How Could You? Hall of Shame-Joshua Home

This will be an archive of heinous actions by those involved in child welfare, foster care and adoption. We forewarn you that these are deeply disturbing stories that may involve sex abuse, murder, kidnapping and other horrendous actions.

From Burnet, Texas,”a Central Texas sheriff says eight boys have been removed from a boarding home as investigators determine whether they were illegally used as labor for a lawn care service and moving company.

Burnet County Sheriff Calvin Boyd said during a news conference Friday that investigators had received reports of abuse, human trafficking and other allegations at the Joshua Home near Bertram, northwest of Austin.

Authorities say the home is a residential facility “for troubled boys.” The boys removed this week range in age from 10 to 17 and their parents live out of state.

The children have been placed with state Child Protective Services.

A lawyer for the home says the boys were questioned by CPS and none said anything to warrant criminal charges.

The home had relocated in May from Pineville, Missouri, to Central Texas.”
