This will be an archive of heinous actions by those involved in child welfare, foster care and adoption. We forewarn you that these are deeply disturbing stories that may involve sex abuse, murder, kidnapping and other horrendous actions.

From Vina, Alabama, ” an 8-year-old boy and his 4-year-old sister — were killed in a four-wheeler accident Saturday afternoon just after 3 p.m. near Vina.” They were foster children.

“The two children, who lived in Vina, were pronounced dead at the scene by Franklin County Coroner Elize Malone.

He said the driver of the vehicle, a 47-year-old Vina woman, was taken to a local hospital.

Emergency personnel at the scene said the woman was talking and had only minor injuries.

Reports indicate the accident took place on Mill Creek Road, which is just off of Alabama 19, outside of Vina.

Moomaw said it is his understanding the woman and the two children had been on a ride and were heading back to their residence, which is on Alabama 19, when the accident happened.

Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver said he was notified of the accident around 3:15 p.m.

He said Mill Creek Road is a gravel road and according to the deputies at the scene, the four-wheeler flipped over on the road.

Authorities said the driver of the vehicle said she lost control of the four-wheeler when a deer ran out in front of her. Emergency personnel at the scene said the woman told them she swerved to miss the animal and lost control. The four-wheeler flipped over, critically injuring the two children.

“When I pulled up, I knew this was a bad one,” Moomaw said. “My heart aches for the family. This is tough on everyone involved.”

The accident remains under investigation by the Quad-Cities State Troopers Post. Troopers would not release the names of those involved as they were still trying to notified relatives.

The two fatalities are the fourth this month. There have been 35 traffic fatalities so far this year in the Northwest Alabama region and southern Tennessee counties of Wayne and Lawrence.”
