From Miami, Florida, “Miami-Dade Police responded to a domestic dispute at a foster home in the area of Southwest 301st Terrace and 146th Avenue, just before 12 p.m., Thursday.

Officials said, when four officers arrived at the home, they were told a 15-year-old boy was being violent toward his guardians.

“The individual wasn’t taking meds,” said Miami-Dade Police Director Juan Perez. “He became violent with the parties inside the residence. It was a typical domestic violence call.”

Investigators said a 28-year veteran ended up firing their weapon as he was trying to subdue the teen, striking him in the lower torso. Police have not yet determined why the gun was fired.

“More questions than answers for you all because one round was discharged, and I don’t know why or the cause of that round being discharged,” Perez said.

Paramedics transported the teen to Kendall Regional Hospital in stable condition.

Marquell Baughns, the nephew of the woman taking care of the wounded teen, said he rushed over to the home after hearing about the shooting.

“Just dropped everything and ran over here,” he said.

Baughns said the teen had been under his aunt’s care for about a week.

“Been a foster parent for quite a while, many kids they’ve helped out,” Baughns said.

An attorney for the police officer told 7News her client, Ronald Neubauer, pulled the trigger in what is now his second shooting this year.”

“Officials said it’s too early to determine whether this was an accidental shooting, but they won’t rule anything out until they receive a full report from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

“For right now, that officer is being placed under administrative duties until further notice,” said Perez. “More than likely, within the next couple of days, he will be relieved of duties unless something changes.”

No other injuries were reported.”
