La Familia-Namaste Closes

“A private New Mexico foster care company is shutting down at the end of the year.

La Familia-Namaste has been providing foster care for children who have experienced severe trauma for more than 30 years. However, in that time the nonprofit has been linked to several child abuse cases.

Back in 2017, Hope Graciano was accused of beating an 11-year-old foster child with a bed frame because he didn’t get a math question right.

Graciano was hired as a foster parent by La Familia Namaste.

In October 2017, a lawsuit was filed against the agency on behalf of a minor, claiming negligence on the part of La Familia-Namaste.

The lawsuit says the agency placed her in a home where she was sexually abused.

Both of these cases are still pending. It’s unclear if those allegations are related to the closure.

KRQE News 13 reached out to the agency for answers but did not hear back.”
