From Wagga Wagga, Australia, “an elderly man who was charged this week with sexually assaulting his 10-year-old foster daughter was reported to the police by his de-facto partner.

Police allege that the 79-year-old sexually assaulted the 10-year-old girl he and his partner had been caring for over a period of months.

It is understood the man allegedly sexually abused the child at length, recording it on more than one occasion. He is also accused of bestiality involving a dog.

The child is understood to have told the man’s de facto partner about the abuse, who promptly reported it to police earlier this year.

He was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station, where he was arrested on Wednesday afternoon.

The man has been charged with four counts of using a child under 14 in the production of child abuse material, one count of inciting sexual act for the production of child abuse material and two counts of aggravated incitement of a sexual act with a child aged 10 to 16.

He is also facing two charges of aggravated sexual intercourse with a child aged 10 to 14, sexual touching of a child aged 10 to 14 and bestiality.

Family and Community Services have made “alternative arrangements” for the child following the dramatic arrests.

A FACS spokesperson said staff were “deeply shocked and saddened” to hear of the alleged sexual assault of a young girl in the Riverina.

“Our thoughts are with the girl and her family at this difficult time.

“FACS is working with the relevant agencies to ensure the child’s ongoing safety and wellbeing.”
