How Could You? Hall of Shame-Dyllon Hall case-Child Death

This will be an archive of heinous actions by those involved in child welfare, foster care and adoption. We forewarn you that these are deeply disturbing stories that may involve sex abuse, murder, kidnapping and other horrendous actions.

From Whitfield County, Georgia, group home resident Dyllon Hall’s, 16, “body was found Sunday in a Whitfield County yard.”

“”There was obvious signs of like briars and brush scratches on his legs so strong indication of him walking in the woods,” Sheriff Scott Chitwood said.

Chitwood said Dyllon had left a group home in Columbus, Georgia nearly 200 miles away late Friday or early Saturday morning.

It’s unclear how Dyllon got to Whitfield County but Shelton believes Dyllon was making his way back to be there for the birth of his son.

“He just wanted to be there for his kid. After his kid was there, he was going to turn himself back in. That way at least he can see his kid one time before he went back to YDC or the group home they had sent him to,” Shelton added.

But Dyllon didn’t make it home.

When he was found, the sheriff said he was wearing a t-shirt and shorts and wasn’t wearing socks or shoes.

Not enough clothing for temperatures below freezing.

“He was wet. Of course, in that area, there is some wet land. There’s a creek very very close by. So whether he had been walking at night and stumbled in the creek or walked through it,” Chitwood added.

Investigators are trying to figure out exactly what happened.

A spokesperson for the Division of Family and Children Services tell Channel 3 they are looking into how Dyllon left the facility.

While Dyllon’s family wait for answers, they remember the life of the 16 year old, cut short.

“I want to know why he didn’t get in touch with me and let me know where he was at or why didn’t he go to me and let me know he was freezing outside,” Shelton said.

The sheriff’s office is waiting for an exact cause of death. That information will come from the results of an autopsy.”
